Upgrading: Before installing a new version of this extension, you should uninstall the previous version according to the steps described below. Your settings will be kept (unless you select to delete them).
Installation
Follow the these steps to install Quote Colors for Thunderbird. The installation procedure is the same as for any other extension.
- Start Thunderbird, go to Tools » Add-ons (Thunderbird 2.0 and above) and Tools » Extensions (Thunderbird 1.x) respectively.
- Click Install button.
- Browse to the folder you saved the extension package (xpi file) to, select it and click Open. Follow the instructions.
- After successful installation, restart Thunderbird.
For an installation in Mozilla do the following:
- Either left click the download link from within Mozilla which automatically starts the installation process or go to File » Open File... and open the quotecolors xpi file you've just downloaded.
- Click on Install button.
- Decide whether you want the extension installed to your profile or to your mozilla program directory.
- After successful installation, restart the Mozilla suite.
Uninstall
Since version 0.7, Thunderbird contains an extension manager that can be used for uninstalling extensions.
Note: Please enable graphical quoting before uninstall if you want Thunderbird to behave like before installation of Quote Colors.
- Start Thunderbird, go to Tools » Add-ons (Thunderbird 2.0 and above) and Tools » Extensions (Thunderbird 1.x) respectively.
- Select "Quote Colors" from the list and click Uninstall button.
- Confirm uninstall and restart Thunderbird.
To uninstall Quote Colors from Mozilla or Thunderbird 0.6 or below, do the following:
- Open the Quote Colors options dialog Tools » Quote Colors Options....
- Click the Uninstall button in the lower left corner.
- Confirm uninstall and select if the Quote Colors settings should be deleted.
- Close Mozilla.
After following these steps, two files from Quote Colors will remain since they are not removed by the uninstall script. They won't do any harm beside taking up some kilobytes on your harddisk but just in case anyone wants to eliminate them: delete quotecolors.jar from the chrome directory (either in your profile or in the mozilla dir) and delete quotecolors.js from /defaults/pref subdirectory in the mozilla program dir.
